piyura kitina - An opening night celebration of culture and music.
In collaboration with the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre, Clarence Jazz Festival is proud to return to piyura kitina (Risdon Cove) for an opening night party celebrating the sharing of culture and music on the land of the mumirimina people.Â
As well as a packed evening of world-class musical offerings, guests can further immerse themselves in the event by booking a guided cultural food tour before the event, or by pre-purchasing a meal provided by palawa kipli to enjoy during the event.Â
This event is FREE to attend however ticket registration is essential. Please note that there will be no food or drink available to purchase at this event however BYO food is welcome or can be pre-ordered.

The Clarence Jazz Festival is proud to have supported the development of this new musical work by first nations historian, and walpiri and pakana woman, Nunami Sculthorpe-Green, in collaboration with internationally recognised pianist and composer Louise Denson, performed by a 9-piece chamber-jazz ensemble. Scholars and Sandy jam sessionÂ
Our jazz scholars will be joined by ambassador Sandy Evans and the Clarence Jazz Festival House Band for a special live performance.Â

Boogie the night away with the master of soul, funk, and blues himself, Jay Jarome, appearing with his full band.Â
