Welcome to ‘Coffee & Lyrics’ at Hybrid Warehouse! This is a monthly event brought to you by the authors of the book, Freo Groove. It’s designed to showcase the incredible creative talent right on our doorstep.
We are stoked to announce that our May 4th session will be hosted by well known and much-loved Fremantle musicians and song-writers, Helen Townsend and Shannon Smith. Helen and Shannon are leading lights in the WA music scene, sharing the stage as an Americana/folk duo, as well as performing and releasing their original music with their own bands.
Helen and Shannon will warm up the room with some of their own songs, before introducing another duo - a fresh new folk act from Western Australia. Kiera Jas and Whiskey Jack are becoming known for their harmonious blend of rich storytelling and sweet melodies. Jack's smooth sound and Kiera's honey-vocals create a unique blend of fun folk roots.
In the guest poet spot, we’re delighted to welcome Josephine Clarke to the Coffee & Lyrics stage. Jo lives locally. Her first collection of poetry, Recipe for Risotto, was published by UWA press in 2020.
The event starts at 10.30am and cafe opens at 8.30am. Given the coffee machine is turned off during the gig so we can all enjoy the music, best to get here early to grab your coffee and snacks and the pick of the comfy couches!
We will have a small release of early bird tickets for $12.
After that, it’s $15 online and $20 at the door.
Children under 14 are free.
