Balance the Scales is a promise that every woman and girl – regardless of background or identity – should be safe, heard, and free to shape their own lives. Yet in 2026, too many across Australia and the world are still denied that fair go. Discriminatory laws, policies, and practices persist. Gender-based violence remains widespread, and structural barriers block too many from seeking or receiving justice.

These barriers are not inevitable. They are built – and they can be dismantled.

Equality is not about advantage for some; it's about dignity, safety, and fairness for all.

When women and girls stand equal, families are stronger, workplaces are fairer, communities thrive, and society becomes safer for everyone.

This International Women’s Day let's Balance the Scales together.

Keynote Speaker: Kate Toon:

Kate Toon is an award-winning author, speaker, educator and podcast host, known for making complex ideas clearer, more accessible, and entirely human. From her much-loved backyard office shed, she has built communities that help tens of thousands of people grow confidence, capability and agency in how they work and show up in the world.

Kate is the author of Six Figures in School Hours, which explores sustainable success alongside motherhood. She is the founder of several nationally recognised education platforms, including The Recipe for SEO Success and the Digital Marketing Collective, and in more recent times is the proud owner of a Umina Beach Book Nook - a local bookshop where community connections are at the heart of everything she does. Her work encourages women to break down barriers, amplify their voice, and stand confidently in spaces that haven’t always been designed for them.

In her talk, Kate will share how personal branding can act as your shield, helping women navigate male-dominated spaces, claim authority, and project their strengths with clarity and impact. Warm, witty and practical, she inspires audiences to own their story, step into their power, and be seen and heard on their own terms.

Booking Information:

This event sells quickly each year so it is advisable to book early.

Wanting to book a small group or a table of ten? Use the seating plan to choose your seat/s or table during the booking process, and book as many single seats as you need. Note that there are allocated tables reserved for sponsors, official guests, IWD Woman of the Year finalists, and school groups. These will be clearly marked. For general bookings, book a seat at one of the unmarked tables. If you would like your own group of ten table to be easily identified on the seating plan, simply email your request to iwdcoffscoast@gmail.com

Dietary Requirements:

The hot and cold buffet will cover a variety of needs. If you have booked a table of ten, please advise the organisers of any allergies or specific food requirements that you or the guests on your table may have.

Accessibility:
The Racing Club venue has stairs at its entry point, however there is a lift available. If you have any mobility issues please advise us in the checkout questions and we will arrange a suitable entry point for you.
