Event description

Join Andrea from Green Gourmet as we explore the role of the human gut microbiota in health and wellbeing and how simple lifestyle changes as well as enjoying fermented foods can contribute to gut and overall health.

The workshop includes a demonstration of how to make a very simple steeped ferment (where you steep chunks of different vegetables in a simple brine solution) and a quick pickle (a refrigerator pickle made with apple cider vinegar and a small amount of sugar and salt)

Andrea will also talk about:

  • the human gut microbiota - what it is and why it's so important to health
  • how our gut microbiota affects mood
  • how modern life tends to decrease the quantity and quality of our microbiota
  • simple ways to increase the quantity and quality of our microbiota
  • the role of a wholefood diet - prebiotics
  • the role of fermented foods - probiotics
