Community Workshop: Building Character Physically with Maeve Mhairi MacGregor
Event description
Drawing on a diverse practice as a physical performer and director across a range of disciplines including text based and physical theatre, film, circus, dance, standup and scicom, Maeve will share a toolbox of techniques to build character physically, from the outside in.
Every body tells a story of the life it has lived and the experiences it carries. Come along to this workshop to explore moving in new and unexpected ways, and broaden the range of stories you can tell and the characters you can inhabit with your body.
This workshop is informed by a range of systems, teachings and philosophies. Many physical character development approaches start with an interrogation of own body, patterns and habits, but this workshop has been designed to explore physical range and potential without focussing on these introspective aspects.
Join us for this free workshop designed for First Nations, Global Majority, LGBTQIASB+, Disabled and Neurodiverse community members aged 18+, with a small donation suggested from allies to support the program.
All donations $2 and over are fully tax-deductible.
Please note: ActNow Theatre will be capturing photos and videos for promotional purposes during this workshop. If you do not wish to be recorded, please let an ActNow Theatre representative know when you arrive so we can ensure we respect your needs.
