3. UV Resin Jewellery Workshop with Meana

💎 MEANA’S UV RESIN EARRING WORKSHOP

Good afternoon, participants! Welcome to today's workshop. I am so pleased to meet you all. This creative session is designed to guide you step-by-step through the magic of UV resin, allowing you to design, craft, and assemble your very own stunning earrings to take home today.

I will be demonstrating each stage live throughout the workshop to help you achieve the absolute best results. Have fun, explore your style, and enjoy creating!

·        Duration: 3 hours (1:45 PM – 5:00 PM)

·        Skill Level: Completely beginner-friendly! All tools and equipment are supplied.

🛡️ 1. Studio Safety First UV resin features an advanced chemical base that gives off subtle fumes when heat is applied. The liquid resin can also irritate bare skin. To ensure a safe crafting environment:

Safety Gear: It is highly recommended to wear basic protective gear while working with uncured resin.

Provided For You: Complimentary disposable respiratory masks and protective gloves are provided for every student. Please wear them while your resin is in its liquid form.

🔮 2. Working with Silicone Moulds You will have full access to a massive variety of earring casting moulds. To ensure your pieces cure perfectly hard:

Layering Technique: Liquid UV resin must be poured and cured in thin, incremental layers. Do not fill your mould right to the top all at once

Curing Times: We build the earrings using 2 to 3 thin layers, curing each layer under your dedicated UV lamp as you go. Depending on the thickness of the layer, the resin will cure completely solid in just 1 to 3 minutes.

✨ 3. Embedding & Colouring

To give your earrings a beautiful, unique personality, you can mix and embed a wonderful selection of decorative mediums into your layers:

·        Embellishments: We provide high-quality polymer clay slices, shimmering dichroic films, and various glitter flakes.

·        Mica Powders: You are welcome to use our vibrant mica pigment powders to tint your resin. Note: Only use a tiny dusting of mica powder, as heavy pigment blocks the UV light and prevents the resin from curing all the way through.

💿 4. The Doming Technique (Optional)

For a truly professional, high-end studio finish, you can learn the art of "doming" your earrings:

·        The Process: This is achieved by carefully applying a precise final top coat of clear resin to your completely cured peice.

·        The Finish: The surface tension creates a gorgeous, glossy, raised dome top that catches the light beautifully. While highly recommended, this is a personal design preference—it is entirely up to you if you wish to dome your pieces or keep them flat!

📎 5. Assembly & Jewellery Findings

Once your resin shapes are perfectly cast, we move on to final assembly:

·        Hardware Provided: Every student is supplied with a full kit of essential jewellery findings, including high-quality earring hooks, posts, and gold and silver jump rings.

·        Construction: I will show you how to use jewellery pliers to safely open, loop, and close your hardware, transforming your resin shapes into a beautiful, wearable pair of earrings.
