Introducing Christine from The Knotted Nest (http://www.theknottednest.com/) an experienced teacher who runs macarame workshops in Launceston.
Christine is coming to Ross to hold a series of weekend beginners workshops. Our first one introduces you to the wonderful craft of Macraweave during a fun, supportive and interactive weekend where you will meet other likeminded people and make you own piece to take home
This workshop includes a night at local accommodation Riverview at Ross in a private or shared room ( if you are attending with friends or family)

· 1.5 days of creative instruction from Christine

In this weekend course you will learn how to create beautiful macraweave wall hangings using wool, yarn and macrame rope.
The learning will cover:
· An introduction to materials – rope, thread, cord, wool etc and their uses
· Essential requirements to set up at home
· Basic macrame knots that will be used in the wall hanging
· Basic weave knots that will be used in the wall hanging
· Hanging your piece



This course would suit Beginner to Intermediate levels
Day 1: (9.30 - 4pm)
overview of the materials used in macrame/macraweaving and an explanation of the equipment that is essential to setting up at home.
demonstration of the basic knots that we’ll be using in this project and instruction for your own practice.
after lunch we will attach our cords to the dowel and then begin to create the skeleton of our piece.
Day 2: (9.00 - 1pm)
Continue with placing macrame knots into the piece and creating shape or contours (skeleton) for the weave.
Weave the wool and yarn through the design. Create fringe, tidy off loose ends.
Attach hanging cord.
All materials for practice and take-home project will be provided.
Included in your weekend is a stayover at the highly rated accommodation Riverview at Ross on the Saturday night.
