Are you working on a collaborative project that could benefit from deeper strategic thinking? Or planning one that you want to set up for success from the start?

This hands-on full-day workshop is designed for anyone currently involved in or planning a collaborative initiative. Using proven Cobeo tools and methods, you'll work directly on your own project while gaining insights that will strengthen your collaborative practice for years to come.

IMPORTANT: Please bring a collaborative project you're currently working on or planning to work on – this could be a research collaboration, community partnership, cross-organisational initiative, class project, capstone, or any other collaborative endeavour.

Why This Workshop Matters

Many collaborative projects focus heavily on tasks and timelines, but overlook the foundational dynamics that determine whether partnerships thrive or struggle. We'll dive deep into four critical areas that often don't get the attention they deserve.

• Strengthen your current project – Apply practical frameworks directly to a collaborative initiative you're working on or planning

• Deepen your understanding of key dynamics – Explore how Value, Roles, Risks, and Enablers show up in your project and develop insights for navigating them more effectively

• Learn from peers – Gain insights from other participants' collaborative experiences and challenges across different sectors and contexts

• Build lasting skills – Develop frameworks for approaching future collaborative work with greater awareness and intention

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is for project leaders, team members, partnership coordinators, researchers, and anyone who wants to move beyond surface-level collaboration to create initiatives that make a real difference.

We welcome participants from diverse contexts:

Professionals and practitioners working on collaborative initiatives in any sector—not-for-profit, government, corporate, or community settings, particularly those in arts and culture, community development, environment and climate change

ANU Students involved in collaborative projects—this workshop provides excellent preparation for real-world collaborative projects, capstones, and community-engaged work

ANU Staff engaged in collaborative research, teaching partnerships, or university initiatives

This mixed-cohort learning environment—central to the SoCIETIE approach at ANU's McCusker Institute—brings together people from different sectors and contexts, enriching everyone's understanding through diverse perspectives and experiences.

This workshop is an excellent follow-on for participants in our Dynamics of Collaboration workshop, but no prior Cobeo experience is required.

Come ready to think, share, and work—you'll leave with fresh insights for your project and practical approaches you can apply to strengthen your collaborative work.

Tickets & Pricing

We offer tiered pricing to ensure accessibility. Subsidised tickets ($200) are available for not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises working in community and cultural development, arts and culture, or environment and climate change sectors. Free tickets are available for First Nations Practitioners, ANU Students, and ANU Staff (limited availability).

About This Workshop

Facilitated by Dr Maya Haviland, Cobeo Founder, McCusker Institute Fellow and Translational Fellow at the Centre for Heritage and Museum Studies at the Australian National University (ANU).

Delivered by Cobeo (an impact enterprise of ANU) in partnership with the ANU McCusker Institute as part of the SoCIETIE Curriculum, with subsidised places supported by the Collaborative Cultures Program of the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences.
