Cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances: Grief Guide Workshop: Co-Designing An AI App for Grief - Darwin
Description
Help Shape the Future of Grief Support for Older Australians: Codesigning an AI App for Grief
Have you experienced loss? Are you over 60 years? We need your insights!
We're developing an AI app to provide compassionate grief support for older Australians, and we want to design it with the people who might use it.
The Grief Guide app uses artificial intelligence (AI) to provide a conversational experience that is designed to help you explore ideas, reflect on memories, and interact with the app in ways shaped by your feedback during co-design workshops. AI does not replace a human or a professional, and it does not provide therapy or medical advice.
We're looking for:
Older Australians aged 60 years or older, who have (1) experienced the death of a person close to them (such as a spouse. partner, family member, or friend) and/or are currently supporting or caring for someone who is dying or nearing the end of life
Join our workshops to share your experiences and ideas and tell us what works (and what doesn't!).
Too often, grief support isn't available when people need it most. Your participation could help create a tool that provides comfort and understanding when traditional support isn't accessible.
For more information about the project, the benefits and risks of participation and other details, the participant information sheet and consent form can be found here:
Participant Information Sheet - Grief Guide QUT Ethics Approval 9947 - Older Adults
Please read the forms prior to the workshop - we will provide printed information sheets and consent forms at the workshop - you may choose to complete them online or at the workshop.
FAQs
- About the AI App
The app will use a type of AI called a large language model (LLM), that’s been adapted using evidence-based resources — things like academic research and reviewed content about grief and mental health- that helps make the responses more reliable and appropriate than general-purpose AI. The AI app will be similar to a mobile phone app and powered by AI —a bit like a chatbot—that people can talk to or message. The exact look, features, and functions of the AI app will be developed with input from users during the project. You can talk or type messages and the AI app will aim to respond in an empathetic, respectful way, based on real evidence about grief and mental health. The aim of codesign and testing is to improve the AI app's features, refine it further, and ensure that it is appropriate, relevant and supportive.
