Growth and Development Family Evening - Session 2 for Year 6 Parents and Students

Pembroke warmly invites you to attend a Growth and Development Family Evening on Wednesday 28 February. This session is conducted by Kidz Biz Education and is designed to be fun, informative, and easy to understand. This highly interactive session will provide students and their parents/caregivers with an introduction to basic personal and social development education; traditionally known as the ‘facts of life’. The sessions will be facilitated in a manner that is not awkward or threatening.

Session 2: Year 6 students and parents

Time: 7.00 pm – 8.00 pm

Location: DY Hall, Senior School Campus, 18 Holden St, Kensington Park

Presentation: What's happening to us?

• Name and discuss the female and male body parts of the reproductive system.
• Explain the physical and emotional changes during puberty, including menstruation, pads & tampons, sperm production, wet dreams, etc.
• Discuss ways to improve self-esteem and body image.
• Discuss the impact media has on body image including photoshopping.
• Looking at ways of getting along with parents including being reasonable and learning to negotiate.
