Description

Helping Someone Who Needs Mental Health Support

Sooner or later, we will all know someone with mental health concerns. Many of us want to help, but we are often unsure how to or what to say.

This free community seminar will show you how to get help for anyone of any age going through tough times.

This seminar will cover...

What are the signs someone may be struggling or need extra help?

We will look at an overview of anxiety, depression, PTSD and some neurodiverse conditions.

What are some of the right and wrong things to say?

What can some in the community do and what should be left to mental health professionals?

What are some different options for support, especially for people who have tried many options without success?

Michael Hempseed is the author of Being A True Hero: Understanding and Preventing Suicide in Your Community and co author of Calming Your Child. Michael, is a very busy professional speaker, delivering between 150-200 talks every year. He has spoken to Fonterra, NZ Post, Fire and Emergency NZ and many others. Michael gained an honours degree in Psychology from the University of Canterbury in 2008. In 2016 he spoke at TEDx.
