We all know that great pairings make for some of the best storylines… Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy, Bonnie and Clyde, and Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde. We love and hate these characters and their stories are what can redeem them. During two days, participants will work on characterisation and devising activities to create a short performance.Â
WHOOP theatre is based in Griffith, NSW, and local theatre creative Melanie Toscan developed the school holiday workshops. Melanie has been performing on stage from an early age. She has performed many roles locally ranging from the explosive ‘Tybolt’ in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ to the tenacious cheerleader ‘Serena’ in‘Legally Blonde The Musical'. In more recent times Melanie has been playing the roles of producer and visual designer for local productions. In 2019 she was nominated for a Canberra Area Theatre Award (CAT award) for Best Leading Actress in a Play for her role as ‘Hermia’ in the Griffith and Regional Association of the Performing Arts (GRAPA) ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.Â
Please bring along some lunch and a drink bottle.
Parents will be able to watch a short performance the students have devised together at the end of the workshop.
