HHSHS Fishing Competition 25-27 July 2025
Event description
Come along to the Sunday Family Funday to weigh your catch! Enjoy music, casting competition, food & drinks available for purchase, raffle, licensed bar. Cash & EFTPOS available.
Prizes kindly donated by About Town Bait & Tackle.
Fishing commences Friday 25th July @ 6pm and closes Sunday 27th July 2025 @ 1pm.
Weigh in @ HHSHS Multi-purpose shelter, 12th Ave, 11pm - 2pm, Sunday 27th July, kindly overseen by the Burdekin District Sportfishing Club.
Winners announced at approx. 3pm.
Registration available online via Humanitix (plus online fee), or HHSHS during school office hours and About Town Bait and Tackle (no extra fees).
Categories include:
- Lucky Angler Draw
- Colour-in Competition - entries can be collected and returned to HHSHS or About Town Bait & Tackle by 3pm on Friday 25th July 2025.
- Longest Barramundi and Mystery Length Barramundi - live and photographed with Brag mat to be collected from Home Hill State High School or About Town Bait and Tackle in week of competition. Promoting release of breeders.
- Heaviest Mystery Weight prize in each of the following:
Grunter
Whiting
Mud Crab (live and tied)
Cod
Mangrove Jack
Finger mark
Bream
Flathead
- Interschool Fishing Competition - results of student anglers added to see which school will come out on top!
FISHING RULES: All fish must be gutted and gilled for weigh in. No undersized catch will be accepted, and all state and commonwealth fishing laws must be adhered. Maximum of 2 fish per species.
FISHING AREA: Burdekin district (only locations allowed by law).
SAFETY: All anglers enter this competition at their own risk and understand the organisers are merely providing an opportunity for the entrant to win a prize.
REGISTRATIONS: Close 10am Saturday 26th July.
FISHING TIMES: Fishing commences 6pm Friday 25th July and concludes Sunday 27th July at 1pm to be eligible.
PRIZE WINNERS: Winners will be announced by approximately 3pm Sunday. Prizes can be collected on Sunday or other arrangements can be made.
BRAG MATS: Available for collection from Home Hill State High School and About Town Bait and Tackle during the competition week.
To enter: Place your live Barramundi on the brag mat, ensuring the nose is at the "0" mark. Take a clear photo showing the full length of the fish, then upload it to the Facebook event page with the hashtag #UpTheHill.
Any person found to be in breach of these Rules or condition of Entry shall be subject to disqualification from the competition including the Lucky Angler Draw.
By purchasing entry in this competition, you verify that you have read the rules and conditions of entry and agree to abide by them during the competition and accept that Home Hill State High School, Burdekin District Sportfishing Club and About Town Bait and Tackle accepts no responsibility for any action or damage arising from it conducting this competition. You agree to abide by the rules of the competition and in a respectable manner to fellow competitors. In addition, you agree that participation is at our own risk and that the holding of this competition is not to be construed as an invitation to go to waterways in conditions beyond the capability of craft and crew. You understand that the decision of the competition committee is final and fully understand the rules and regulations of this competition. No refund will be given for bad weather.
