Event description

This is a workshop to provide information and advice on planting natives on your property. This is a great time of year to start planning for the winter planting season. The session will cover topics such as riparian planting of watercourses and streams, planting wetland and boggy areas, planting slips and erosion prone areas, as well as pest and weed management. Marie Taylor from Plant HB will walk you through the steps from tree selection to successful planting and survival. A member of the Hawke's Bay Regional Council Biosecurity team will talk about common weeds and pests and how to manage them. There will also be a presentation from PDP environmental science experts on the results of baseline water testing in the Ahuriri catchment. There will be a question-and-answer opportunity and light refreshment provided at the end.

This is a free event, but we do ask you to book a ticket so that we know how many people are coming. We also have a 5-question survey (yes or no answers) to help us understand what your plans for your property might look like. This way we can tailor the workshop to meet your needs. This is a joint initiative between Sustainable Hawke's Bay, Ahuriri Tributaries Catchment Group Trust, Plant Hawke's Bay Ltd, and Hawke's Bay Regional Council, to inspire people who have a small parcel of land to create a thriving native and birdsong sanctuary in their backyard.
