Intro to Peer Work Online (one-day)
Event description
This one-day course provides foundational skills suitable for aspiring Peer Workers and for current Peer Workers who seek to refresh their skills or to gain a new perspective on their practice.
The course content is structured to provide a comprehensive overview of Peer Work, covering essential topics such as the values of Peer Work, boundaries in Peer Work, and the importance of empathy, self-care, and integrating this understanding through self-reflective practice.
The course has been developed through a co-design approach with people with lived experience and Peer Workers, alongside input and feedback from the LEx Training Hub Course Advisory Group.
Who can benefit from the Introduction to Peer Work course?
- Aspiring Peer Workers: People interested in becoming peer workers, who want to gain foundational knowledge and skills.
- Current Peer Workers: Those already working in the field who seek to refresh their skills or gain a new perspective on their practice.

- Identify and describe the Peer Worker role and the core values that underpin the Lived Experience Workforce.
- Apply the principles of reflective practice to the Peer Worker role.
- Articulate and recognise the importance of self-care in Peer Work.
- Understand professional boundaries in Peer Work.
- Evaluate your lived experience story in line with ethical Peer Work practice.
