Introduction to Permaculture - Winter gathering

Price $40 – $60 AUD + BF Get Tickets

Event description

Are you looking to get more out of your property? Would you like to learn to work with nature and reduce your workload over time? Concerned about climate change?

Permaculture is a design theory that is used to live in balance with, and restore, nature. It helps to change the way we perceive what we see and make different decisions. It is about recognising patterns in nature and adapting them to your context. It is guided by its core ethics. Have a look at this short video featuring the co founders of permacultre.

Started in Australia, it is now a world movement of people acting to create a healthier more alive future in which all life can flourish. What you learn can be used on any property, anywhere around the world. It is not just gardening.

In this 4 hour workshop you will get an overview of the basics of permaculture. It can help you on your journey of learning about your property by asking different questions. Instead of treating problems you will learn to see solutions. It’s like the saying, Prevention is better than cure, and this is for those who are prepared to work for a long-term goal. Why are the problems arising? Instead of treating the problem how can we work out what is going on and change the conditions, so problems don’t arise, or their affect is reduced. Along the way you will become more connected to natural systems, uncover meaning and have fun!

Forget about traditional ways of learning! This workshop is interactive with plenty of time to converse. All teachers are learners and learners teachers.

Refreshments provided. Please feel free to bring a plate of food to share.

Workshop size is limited.

Meet the  Facilitator:

Tan Fowler

Relatively new to town, Tan lives on an 8 acre property in Julimar. She started her journey into Permaculture when she was studying biological science at University. Since then she has worked on farms across Australia, run her own organic farm with café onsite, had twin daughters, clocked up a range of certificates and postgraduate study and spent countless hours volunteering in community groups.

Tan is passionate about creating and making possible new ways of living in a beneficial relationship with nature. She aims to raise awareness of living systems and regenerative culture; the practices, philosophy and theory, in her business Living Abundance. It is her hope to inspire and empower individuals, groups and the community to make lifestyle changes, and join a growing, diverse movement of people worldwide actively participating in exploring slow solutions.
