As part of our 'Ink It Up' initiative, supported by Bayside City Council, Bayley Arts is excited to welcome professional Printmakers Lisa Sewards and Trudy Rice to our studios. Due to high demand, Lisa and Trudy are offering a second solar plate etching workshop. This is a small sized class so be quick to book your ticket!

This non-toxic intaglio etching process uses the sun's natural UV (or a UV lightbox) and water rather than harmful acids and solvents to create remarkable results. Both artists have worked with this medium for over a decade.

During the workshop, you'll learn how to transform your hand drawn image onto a metal backed photopolymer plate, ink the plate using etching inks, hand pull your print on Bayley Arts' beautiful etching press onto cotton rag printmaking papers, creating a small edition to take home.

What to bring

All materials will be provided including two etching plates but please wear closed shoes, and bring along an apron or wear an old shirt. Your drawing to etch will be a simple line drawing – ideas will be offered or bring your personal sketchbook or reference images.
