Event description

Do you have a broken or chipped sentimental piece of pottery that you find hard to get rid of? Join us for a transformative Kintsugi workshop, where art meets sustainability! Kintsugi, the ancient Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery with gold, not only highlights the beauty of imperfection but also embodies ACR’s mission of saving usable materials from the landfill.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the delicate techniques of Kintsugi while exploring its deeper messages of resilience and sustainability. As we mend ceramics, we’ll discuss the importance of valuing the past, reducing waste, and appreciating the stories behind each piece.

Perfect for all skill levels. Participants are welcome to bring their own broken pottery from home or use the pottery provided.

This workshop is appropriate for ages 18+ only.

About the Instructor

Preeti Agrawal is a craft blogger and watercolorist. In her work, she's concerned with experiments that combine old and new. She is drawn to the modern craft sensibility but at the same time the traditional arts call to her. She loves the interplay of the two as she adjusts traditional arts to new mediums and materials.
A concern for the environment and a reverence for nature pervades her daily life and work: she saves fabric, remnants, beads and the castaways of modern living and incorporates them into her work. Making things by hand gives her joy, up cycling, salvaging and repurposing materials gives her joy, as a result her crafting world is the perfect marriage of two!
