Developing Differently … positively raising children with disability.

This workshop for parents and/or caregivers, is designed to provide a safe space for those caring for children or young people with disability and to gently reflect on themselves in their role as a carer. The workshops provide an opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of the rights of people with disability and aims to empower them with the confidence to advocate for their child and young person with disability, when necessary.

Topics covered include:

Coping with feelings about a child or young person’s disability
Understanding the rights of children/people with disability
Models of disability – breaking barriers, building bridges
Practical strategies to support meeting children/young people’s needs
When, where, and how to find the supports needed for parents/caregivers

Our workshops are based on the latest parenting research and use information from Parenting SA.

Light refreshments and crèche provided
