Back due to popular demand are our Lunchtime Forum series will be running across the State during National Reconciliation Week.

Tickets are very affordable, bring your lunch so it doesn’t cut into school or work hours, and listen to Aboriginal community speakers discuss current issues and topics including the 2023 Referendum for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament.

MC of the event is one of Reconciliation Tasmania's dedicated Board members from the North West, proud palawa woman Fiona Green. Her family tree traces back to Mannalargenna as her ancestral grandfather. She's just starting out on her cultural journey and reconnecting with community. Her first steps include being part of the Yanalangarmi, Strong women, Strong Communities program and she’s embedding and developing education programs at the Indie School in Northern Tasmania. Currently she is working at the Indie School in Devonport.

Hank Horton is an Aboriginal man from northern Tasmania and an active member of the Aboriginal community with involvement at all levels including community, local, State and Federal. He is also a past member of the interim Aboriginal Heritage Council, is heavily involved in Aboriginal education and the promotion of ongoing Aboriginal culture in Tasmania, working with many schools and education groups to deliver and promote meaningful Aboriginal history. Hank is currently on a number of boards, committees. He works closely with many of the major land managers and operators in the North to better manage Aboriginal heritage values. He's a member of the National Parks and Wildlife Advisory Council, as an Aboriginal Heritage Advisor, dealing with land management issues in the National Parks and the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and is a prominent member of Tasmania's Aboriginal community.

Second speaker is the in-dominatable Uncle Sammy Howard, prominent Elder from the North West and a staunch advocate for Tasmanian Aboriginal rights.

For our third speaker we have Aunty Netty Shaw, an Elder and proud First Tasmanian woman — a descendant of Tasmanian Aboriginal warrior and diplomat Mannalargenna, Chief of the Plangermaireener clan. Aunty Netty is an award-winning artist who crafts traditional water carriers out of deep sea kelp, a practice crafted thousands of years ago by her female ancestors.
