Course Overview

Are you concerned with the effect of workers compensation claims on your business?

There is no doubt that workers compensation is a daunting topic for employers. With over 100,000 serious Australian workers’ compensation claims in 2017-18 (Safe Work Australia), you cannot ignore that putting in place precautions is not enough to protect you legally when an injury occurs.

Managing employees who suffer from an illness, injury or mental ill-health can be complex and one of the most challenging areas faced by HR professionals. Employers have a legal obligation and duty of care to each employee but it's not a 'one-size-fits all' scenario.

With COVID-19 still impacting businesses, employees and communities hard, the role of the employer now extends to how they manage staff during a pandemic.

Being aware of your obligations and responsibilities when it comes to managing workers’ compensation claims, either physical or psychological, will help you minimise the impact to your business.

This half-day online training will cover:

  • Workers compensation legislation and your obligations in the workplace
  • An overview of the claims handling process
  • How to best challenge questionable claims
  • Responding to a workers’ compensation claim – what to include and how to present the information
  • Identifying and managing suitable duties when an employee has accepted a claim
  • Managing an employee’s return to work once a claim has been finalised.

Each participant will receive a workbook to keep that will help you navigate these tricky matters after the training.

Managing ill and injured workers is an employer obligation and knowing how to process workers compensation claims is critical for the best outcomes for all parties involved.

Register now to find out the best practices from the legal experts.
