Meditation & Sound Bath with SUN SISTA
Description
Find Your Stillness in a Lunch Time Sound Bath - Every Friday at the Witton Barracks
In the rush of modern urban life, our nervous systems are constantly activated, screens, noise, deadlines, and the endless scroll of daily demands. We are a generation running on empty, craving deep rest but rarely finding it. This Sound Bath Journey is your invitation to pause, breathe, and come home to yourself.
Whether you are new to meditation or a seasoned practitioner, this experience is designed for everyone, including those with the busiest of minds. Unlike traditional meditation, you don't need to "empty your thoughts" or sit in silence. Instead, your awareness is gently drawn toward the living sound as it washes over and through you, doing the work so you don't have to.
What Is a Sound Bath?
A sound bath is an immersive, meditative experience where you are bathed in waves of healing sound and vibration. You simply lie down (or sit comfortably), close your eyes, and allow the sounds to guide you into a state of profound relaxation.
The instruments used in this journey include:
HIGH FREQUENCY CRYSTAL SINGING BOWLS - tuned to specific frequencies that resonate with the body's energy centres. Seven bowls that balance the seven chakras in the energy system.
MEDICINE DRUMS - deep, rhythmic pulses that slow the mind and anchor the body (Made from Goat skin I received in a coral cave in Bali and Kangaroo Skin made close to the Glass House Mountains)
THE PYRAMID OF THE SUN RAIN STICK - soft, flowing sounds that ease the nervous system into stillness (The rain stick I received whilst living in Mexico it is from Teotihuacán, the pyramid known as the Pyramid of the Sun The rain stick in Mesoamerican life was held deep in spiritual practices calling in the rain and water flow).
AFRICAN RAIN STICK - soft, flowing sounds that ease the nervous system into stillness
TIBETAN TINGSHA BELLS — ancient tools used by Buddhist Monks for grounding and energetic clearing, The vibration of the bells clears negative energy and rebalances you and the vitality of a space.
POW-WOW DRUM — grounding, rhythmic pulses that slow the mind and anchor the body in preparation of deep meditation. (These heart grounding drums were made ethically by a Native American Indian on the buck moon, made with Bison skin).
OCEAN DRUM — soft, flowing sounds that ease the nervous system into stillness (The ocean drum was also made ethically by a Native American Indian on the buck moon, made with Elk skin infused with healing crystals that produce sounds like the ocean flowing over you).
SUMMER CHIME — delicate, shimmering tones that lift and refresh the mind (Made from bamboo in Bali, I brought back from the Ubud Jungle)
Together, these instruments create a rich, layered soundscape that guides you gently from an active, thinking state into deep rest and restoration.
These beautiful instruments I have collected across multiple adventures, and it brings me deep joy to play them intentionally for you.
The Science Behind Sound Healing
Sound baths are not just a beautiful experience, there is growing scientific evidence supporting their powerful effects on the mind and body.
Brainwave Entrainment: Sound frequencies can guide the brain from its busy Beta state (active thinking) into Alpha (relaxed awareness), Theta (deep meditation and creativity) and even Delta (restorative sleep-like rest). This process is known as brainwave entrainment, and it is one reason people often feel profoundly relaxed and even drift to sleep during a sound bath.
Stress Reduction: Research published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine found that sound meditation significantly reduced feelings of tension, anxiety and depression, while increasing feelings of spiritual wellbeing. Participants reported lower levels of physical pain and emotional distress following sessions.
The Vagus Nerve & Nervous System Reset: Sound vibration stimulates the vagus nerve, a key pathway in the parasympathetic nervous system, helping to shift the body out of "fight or flight" and into "rest and digest." This is where true healing happens.
Cellular Vibration: The human body is approximately 60% to 70% water, and water is highly responsive to vibration. The resonance of crystal singing bowls creates physical vibration that moves through the body at a cellular level, promoting physical relaxation and energetic balance.
The Busy Mind Advantage: One of the most remarkable things about sound baths is that they are actually easier for people who struggle to meditate. Rather than fighting your thoughts, your attention naturally follows the sound, and the mind has something beautiful to rest on, and stillness follows naturally.
