MHFA - Gambling Conversations is a course for any adult who would like two know more about how to support a person experiencing Gambling Harm.

About 1% of Australians experience harm associated with their gambling behaviour. This course will assist participants to:

Recognise the signs that a person may be experiencing harm as a result of their gambling
Provide initial help using a practical, evidence-based Action Plan
Seek appropriate professional help, and
Manage your own self-care when helping someone experiencing gambling harm.

This is a 4.5-hour educational course, not a therapy or support group.
This course has been funded through a grant from GambleAware Mid and Northern NSW

Mark Smith is an educational leader with extensive experience working in a diverse range of schools and youth focused organisations. Mark has been a special education teacher, head teacher and deputy principal for over 20 years. Mark has also worked in hospitals and youth and disability organisations in direct care and advocacy roles. Mark is a consultant trainer with MHFA International, in this role Mark works with the highly acclaimed team who developed the MHFA program that has now been adopted in over 25 countries. Mark's expertise in delivering MHFA Programs comes from deep insights into adolescents, mental health and education to provide participants with a unique training experience. Mark is highly engaging, utilises humour and shares personal narratives to support participant learning.
