December Downtemple & Cacao - 'Attune'
Event description
Movement - Expression- Connection- Reverence
This event, created by Chelsea Amber, is a ceremony of connection, Cacao, guided movement, and free-form dance medicine in a downtempo-esque container. The pace is slower...like a steady burning flame, inviting us to drop deeper into presence with every delicious movement.
Our December theme is 'Attune'.
Imagine our collective dance space as a cauldron. Energy and intentions swirling, nothing is truly separate. We can feel each other and as Newton said, "every action has an equal and opposite reaction." A need has come to remind us all that touch is sacred. There is massive potential to connect in this space, both through touch and without actually physically touching another.
This is a collective space for the therapy of dance.
Again, this is a collective space for the therapy of dance.
As such, this NEEDS to be a container where everyone feels welcome.... welcome to be in as much or as little physical connection as they desire. Physical contact is juicy(!) and it is not an assumption. Not everyone wants touch at any given moment, and our needs, our yeses, and our no's are constantly changing. Life is a dance! Could we tune in a little bit more to notice the subtle shifts? Could we lean into being led a little bit more by the energy of the space? What if the field itself has a desire- greater than that of the individual you or I? Could we surrender our personal desires to serve the greater whole?
Consent in this space IS A MUST. Respect is a non-negotiable. Attunement will be emphasized as we co-create this space for healing. We will all practice attuning; making our bodies and our systems more receptive and aware of ourselves, each other, and the space. ... And we're gonna dance and pray and celebrate creating this juicy, cohesive space together!
We have an incredible team this month! So excited to welcome BeMuse (Bez Stone) to DJ, Martin Nicholas to lead our movement warm-up, and Lola of the Lovebirds sharing closing sound! I so hope you will join us on our journey this month.

About the Cacao:
Cacao is a delicious, heart-opening medicine with indigenous roots all over the world. Drinking cacao in ceremony where one is invited to connect with the spirit of cacao and invite it into the heart space can bring profound healing experiences, especially when combined with movement such as dance. Cacao is just one more way to infuse Love into your dance!
The cacao we will drink comes from Alta-Verapaz, Guatemala and was processed in Lago Atítlan, Guatemala by a collective of women indigenous to Lago Atítlan. This ceremonial-grade cacao, 'Ruk'u'xUlew', means 'heart of the earth' in Kaqchikel, one indigenous language of Lago Atítlan. We will collectively gather in ceremony to serve and bless the cacao before we drink! To learn more about Ruk'u'xUlew Cacao, visit https://www.rukuxulew.com.
