Taieri Bowling Club - Party with the Aunties
Event description
It's Uncle Angus' 50th birthday, and the whole whanau are invited! Nau Mai! Haere Mai!
Coming to a venue near you, Party with the Aunties is a celebration of a Kiwi family, with a good singalong vibe... you may see someone you recognise.
Party with the Aunties is an original NZ work created by Mosgiel-born Erina Daniels and the original cast of 2011. First produced in a garage in Paekakariki as part of Daniels’ Masters Degree at Te Kura o Toi Whakaari/Victoria University, Wellington, Party with the Aunties has since toured to many regions and festivals including Nelson, Christchurch and Taranaki Arts Festivals, and has enjoyed representing theatre of Aotearoa at the 2016 Festival of Pacific Arts in Guam.
Party with the Aunties shows in clubs, bars and community halls – places where people socialize. The audience are guests of Uncle Angus’ 50th birthday party; the show will happen amongst us.
This feel-good show is the perfect way to celebrate the start of Summer!

Reviews
“The play was a wickedly funny celebration of New Zealand life, an extraordinary gift to us as a community." - David Groves, Paekakariki Xpressed
“They give us an evening of laughter, with many touching moments as members of the family reunite, encounter, agree to differ and go their ways, all interlaced with song and guitar.” - Sunny Amey, Theatreview
"It’s a relaxed and relaxing show, under the smart direction of Erina Daniels, and though it seems casually performed it isn’t... played with broad, sympathetic character strokes by a trio of hugely attractive, charismatic and talented performers" -Laurie Atkinson
