Regional Innovation in Action: People, Robots and the Future of Work

New technologies including technology, information systems, AI and robotics are changing how work is organised, the skills businesses need, and the opportunities available to regional industries.

Over lunch, Professors Rowena Barrett and Alistair Barros, joined by an Alpha Mini humanoid robot, will lead a practical conversation about what these changes could mean for regional businesses. What is real, what is emerging, and where are the opportunities?

The discussion will draw on examples of innovation from the region and beyond and explore how industry can work with QUT through students, industry projects, research and other collaborations to respond to change and create new opportunities.

Speakers;

Professor Rowena Barrett is QUT’s Pro Vice-Chancellor Entrepreneurship and Regional Innovation

Professor Alistair Barros is QUT’s Head of the School of Information Systems
