Event description

STRANGE EDITIONS 5.0

A weeknight book club at Strange Company!

☆☆☆☆☆

Our much-loved book club Strange Editions is on again this October after a very successful relaunch last month. This session will see WA local legend Dave Warner come out of the suburbs and grace our venue with a discussion and Q&A surrounding his newly released novel, When It Rains (out Oct 1st)!

The much awaited novel will be available at the event plus a selection of his other published books will also be for sale over the bar in the lead-up to the session. Our friendly staff will be more than happy to have a chat with you about them and give you any further info over a drink or two!

We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday the 23rd to celebrate the release of Dave's newest book and delve a bit deeper into the themes it evokes, plus fire some questions at him about his colourful career and how he got into the field.

Join us and enjoy some quality certified organic vino from our lovely friends in Wilyabrup, the team at Rosily Vineyard.

A special thanks as well to everyone at Fremantle Press and New Edition who have been instrumental in putting this series together!

About When It Rains:

Following a long dry-spell of major crime in the Kimberley, Broome detective Dan Clement, suddenly finds himself inundated. When his sergeant is beaten up, and a woman is brutally assaulted, it appears the same two suspects are behind both incidents. The stakes rise after the remains of a body are discovered tied to a post in crocodile- infested waters, and a journalist covering the crimes is abducted. Never have Dan and his team faced more terrifying outcomes than in this complex and baffling case.

PRAISE FOR THE BOOK

An excerpt from the first preview review:

'I loved the build up to the resolution of this crime and it is something this author does well. The blending of Detective Dan's personal life with his policing life lends him a genuineness that is endearing.

If you love Aussie noir and great storytelling, then Dave Warners books will fit the bill. I have read four of his books now and IMO Dave is an outstanding author and you should do yourself a favour and check out his work.'

This is a FREE event, however as places are limited, RSVP is essential. Secure your spot at the bar or by following the link.
