At the Djilba seasons event Lester Coyne will discuss his recent visit to the Scotland Museum to learn about artefacts which originate from the Menang people. The artefacts consisted of paintings and original labels on the fish including the Menang names of each species and, in some cases, the name of the Menang fishermen who caught them. Small sewn-up holes in the fishes confirm that they were caught using Menang fishing spears.

The discussion will centre on how this cross-cultural cross disciplinary experience has enabled a better understanding of the collection. Lester will also discuss the significance of repatriating these items back to the original custodians in the future.

An optional walk will be hosted where participants in the field trip can take a walk up the Bill Pinniger Trail Lookout. The walk is 900 m in length and is a relatively steep gravel trail, leading to spectacular views across Hillers Beach and Parry's Beach.
