Event description

Show and Tell: Organising zero-waste events with St Kilda Primary School and Kew High School

This event will teach you how to create a sustainable event from scratch!

Learn how to engage suppliers, ensure the right infrastructure, involve students, invite presenters, and partner with organisations for activities and sponsorship.

Join Anabel Herr, St Kilda Primary School's Business Manager and Sustainability Coordinator, and Elise Dunstan, Kew High School’s Community Development Manager and Sustainability Coordinator, to learn about:

  • St Kilda Primary School’s zero-waste biannual fete, organised for over a decade, offers a fun community experience with food, rides, entertainment, a second-hand shop, and student-run stalls featuring products made in class with a sustainable approach.
  • Kew High School’s Sustainability Summit, which in 2024 hosted 19 schools (primary and secondary) and 200 attendees, featured inspiring talks from students, as well as practical workshops delivered by alumni, parents, and industry leaders who shared their career pathways in sustainability.
  • Wins and challenges in organising events, from two perspectives - operational and curriculum.

If you're interested in organising a zero-waste event with inspiring activities for your community but aren’t sure where to start, or if you're a pro event organiser looking to refresh your ideas, this event is for you!
