Songs of Spring, Stage, and Screen
Event description
Celebrate music of spring, stage and screen! The singers of the San Francisco Youth chorus present songs of nature, hope, and harmony from a myriad of musical genres and origins, while also visiting the glitz and glamor of Hollywood and Broadway. This marks the tenth season featuring these talented singers ranging from first through twelfth grade, performing songs in a variety of musical styles, including Classical, Folk, Broadway, Jazz and World Music. Repertoire spans from great historical works such as Sing for Joy! from Handel's Judas Maccabeus, Hebrew song Shiru!, powerful arrangements of African Spirituals Shine on Me! and Down to the River to Pray, to Jacob Narverud's Ad astra, One Short Day and Dancing Through Life from Wicked, the popular Jazz standard, Sunny Side of the Street, Dos Oruguitas from Encanto, Gaelic folk song Seoithin Seo, and so much more. This special spring concert is fun for the whole family, and is not to be missed! Come make some musical memories with the San Francisco Youth Chorus!
