Please arrive at 10:15 am for registration
Sessions commence at 10:30 am
Join us for our second Coach the Coaches Professional Development session — a focused, practical clinic designed to help pool-based swimming coaches learn and apply what they can immediately in their coaching environments.
This session integrates land-based preparation and pool-based coaching to strengthen how swimmers move, train, and perform in the pool.
1️⃣ Jackie Clarke – The Swimmer’s Body
Land-Based Session
Time: 10:30–11:30
Session Theme:
Move Better to Swim Better
Jackie Clarke holds a Bachelor of Psychology and Human Movement from the University of Western Australia (UWA) and brings a deep understanding of how the body and mind support athletic performance.
Jackie is not teaching swimming — she is teaching what makes swimming possible.
This session focuses on preparing the swimmer’s body for effective pool training through intelligent, targeted land-based work.
Key focus areas include:
Shoulder mobility and stability
Core connection to support efficient stroke mechanics
Yoga-based strength and flexibility specific to pool swimmers
Injury prevention and long-term swimmer longevity
Why this session matters:
Swimmers feel the difference immediately in the pool.
This is an ideal foundation session that prepares the body for stronger, more efficient swimming.
Strong, mobile bodies create better strokes.
2️⃣ Andrew Sexton – Coaching Application: From Land to Pool
SWAS Swimming Coach
Land-Based Session
Time: 11:30–1:00
Andrew Sexton, South West Academy of Sport (SWAS) Swimming Coach, will deliver two connected sessions that bridge physical preparation and practical pool coaching.
🔹 Land-Based Coaching Focus
Andrew will begin by exploring how coaches can:
Identify key movement patterns that support pool performance
Link physical preparation to stroke efficiency
Integrate land-based awareness into everyday coaching practice
🔹 Pool-Based Coaching Session
Time: 1:00–2:30
Andrew will then lead a practical pool-based session, focused on:
Effective pool session structure
Purposeful drills and skill development
Clear coaching cues that translate into better technique
Maximising the value of regular pool training for swimmers of all levels
Participants may choose to be active in the water during this session.
