The David Jones family have strong associations with the Strathfield district, dating back to the 1860s. Members of the family have played an important role in business, architecture, medicine, education and the establishment of Strathfield Council.  David Jones is one of the world’s oldest department stores still trading under their original name. It was founded in Sydney in 1838 by Welsh immigrant David Jones and continued to be managed by his family for over 140 years.Â
The talk and exhibition will take you on a journey through the history of David Jones and their stories and legacy in the Strathfield district. Â
This exhibition has been developed by Strathfield-Homebush District Historical Society with the support of Strathfield Council. Â Â Â
