    Sustainable Gardening - workshop

Your garden is a place to connect with the environment. Your garden also offers valuable opportunities for you to reduce your emissions, and help fight climate change.

There are lots of simple ways you can make your garden and gardening practices more sustainable. In this webinar, Teresa from Sustainable Gardening Australia will talk about how your garden can be used to reduce your environmental impact and help us adapt to a changing climate. Teresa will cover:

    • The important role of healthy soil in the fight against climate change
    • The relationship between organic waste and carbon emissions
    • How to create micro-climates to help cool gardens and houses
    • Reducing food miles by producing your own food
    • Water smart gardening
    • Tips on reducing, reusing and recycling.

Attendees will have the opportunity to perform their own soil analysis - just bring along a couple of small soil samples from your garden, taken from 20cm below the surface.

This venue is ACCESSIBLE for people using wheelchairs and other mobility aids. If you have any access or support requirements in order to participate fully, please let us know at least two weeks prior to the event and we will be pleased to assist you.

This My Smart Garden event is proudly presented by BOROONDARA COUNCIL on the Country of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people. My Smart Garden pays our respect to Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledges that First Nations peoples have cared for Country sustainably for tens of thousands of years.
