An introduction to the art of the handmade book — where visual and text narratives weave together, or stand alone, in inventive, endlessly innovative ways. What is an artist book? What forms can it take? We will explore types, tools, techniques, and process — then make a zine of our own to kick off the adventure.

No experience needed. Just curiosity and 4 hours to make something you didn't know you could make.

Suitable for participants with reasonable fine motor skills. Sessions involve cutting with scissors.

Faye Wilson is an artist, poet, curator, and experienced, qualified tertiary art teacher based in Katoomba. She works across bookmaking, artist books, and creative writing, with workshops that are hands-on and participatory, built around the idea that concept and making develop together —not as separate steps. Two of her artist books were finalists in the 2025 Libris Awards, Australia’s national artist book awards, and her work is held in the NSW State Library’s specialist artist books collection.
