The Backroads exists for anyone in their 20s & 30s who wants to get offline and meet new people, without any pressure to be “good” at hiking.

⛰️ Hike overview

Karekare to Tunnel Point via Zion Hill Track
Length: 8.5km | 3 hours (ish)
Difficulty: Moderate

☕️💬 Post-hike plans

We'll stop for a well earned coffee and/or bite to eat at the Piha Store.

🚐 How to get there

Karekare Beach is located in the Waitakere Ranges, around 45 minutes drive from Auckland CBD. Once you RSVP, you'll receive an invite to our WhatsApp group chat. If you need or can offer a lift, please share your area and organise pick-up details with other attendees.

🎒What to bring

Trail shoes/boots
At least 2L water
Snacks
Sun protection! You will need a hat and sunscreen
Warm & waterproof layers (the conditions change quickly)
