The Heart & Science of Neurodiverse Affirming Parenting - 8 session course

Price $959 AUD + BF Buy Tickets

Event description

"The existence of sensitive people is an advantage for humankind because it is this group that best expresses humanity’s creative urges and needs.”― Gabor Maté

Understanding a child's sensitivity can be seen as an opportunity to apply informed and imaginative approaches to support them, rather than a judgment of fundamental or irreversible flaws. This understanding can empower us to help the child achieve their full potential, rather than impose additional limitations.

Discover effective parenting approaches for navigating the unique challenges of neurodiversity in this intimate small-group workshop for parents and care-givers.

This program integrates practices grounded in neurobiology, modern attachment theory and emotional regulation with the relationship-based, communication skills framework of the Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) program.

"P.E.T. gives parents simple skills for authentic parenting and good family relationships, from toddlerhood through to the teenage years and beyond"
Dr Sarah J. Buckley, author of Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering

About your facilitator, Kate Horne

As an integrative psychotherapist in private practice and a certified Effectiveness Training instructor, I am committed to relational renewal and cultural transformation. My work involves supporting individuals through uncertainty and nurturing thriving relationships across personal, familial, and community contexts.

My qualifications include a degree in counselling & psychotherapy from the Ikon Institute, and I am registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). For fifteen years, I have facilitated humanistic communication and relationship skills training for parents, individuals, and youth. This journey began during a transformative period in my own young family, prompting me to explore effective approaches to parenting and personal growth.

In addition to these workshops, I provide psychotherapy for individuals and couples including supporting young people with diagnoses of Autism and ADHD. I have completed Level One training in the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT) and am pursuing further training in Integrative Attachment Therapy, focusing on adult attachment repair. Outside of my professional roles, I am engaged in home educating my youngest child and spend as much time as possible in the beautiful forest of the Yarra Ranges, my home of the past twenty-four years.
