Event description

88min feature documentary film screening followed by a Q+A with the film-makers, Franck Dubuc (director/cinematographer) and Francesca Partridge (writer/producer) and Captain Sarah Parry AM.

Fervently committed to helping young people find their place in the world, Captain Sarah Parry AM uses the tall-ship she built in Hobart, ‘Windeward Bound’, as a vehicle for positive social change, helping to give young people a new outlook on life... and themselves.

Turning the Tide follows a culturally diverse group of teenagers as they are thrust together into the very hands-on reality of sailing a tall-ship for 10 days around southern lutruwita/Tasmania. Taken way out of their comfort zone (without a smartphone in sight!), challenged daily, discovering qualities they didn't know they had, all the kids find themselves becoming part of a new interdependent community where everyone plays a vital role on board.

Turning the Tide is an uplifting story of challenge, change and connection... and how one person really can make a difference.
