Event description

Take a walk and talk with the rangers of the Fitzgerald River NP and a member or two from the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show PLUS Peter Lane author of The Geology of National Parks in WA. Peter will join us on the 19th September only. The walk is approximately 10kms long and is a medium - hard walk along a few sandy fishing tracks until we hit the iconic Hakea Trail and head back to West Beach taking in some of the most spectacular and rugged coastline.

This walk takes in a variety of wildflowers from different soil types. It has spectacular scenery and rugged diverse geological formations.

This is a minimum 4 HOUR walk, you will be walking in diverse terrain, along tracks, there are no toilet facilities along the track, so visit the Cave Point area facility nearby before you arrive at West Beach car park.

Come prepared for all weather.

We will meet at West Beach Carpark (in the national park) and be bused to the starting point near Hamersley Dunes access point. As the bus will be leaving directly after dropping us at the start point you will not be able to leave anything on the bus.

We will walk back to your pick up point and vehicle.

Bring: snacks, water, sunscreen, hat, insect repellent, epipen (if you have an allergy) and your lunch if you wish and enjoy it at the end of the walk.

Where to meet: West Beach Carpark off Cave Point Rd in the Fitzgerald River NP.

Time:  8:00 a.m. and back at approximately 1:30-2:00 p.m.

Note it is approximately a 20 minute drive from Hopetoun to the start point
