Weekend Weed Swap Holdfast Bay
Holdfast Bay Community Centre
Event description
Do you have Gazanias or Fountain Grass in your garden? Do you live or own a business in the City of Holdfast Bay?
Would you like to replace them with FREE local native plants that are good for the environment, save water, and attract birds, butterflies, and other native wildlife?
Gazanias and fountain grass are harmful weeds. They can spread easily from gardens and take over natural areas. This means they push out native plants and reduce food and shelter for wildlife.
What you need to do:
- Sign up for the event
- Remove any gazanias and/or fountain grass from your garden (whether it's one plant or a patch).
- Take a photo of the plants you’ve removed (don’t bring them with you).
- Dispose of the gazanias and fountain grass in your green waste bin (don’t dump them anywhere else).
- Bring your photo to the event with a bucket, and you’ll get 10 free local plants for your garden. You’ll also get a Coastal Gardens Planting Guide.
- Plant your plants
Important:
- You can only get 10 plants per household or business.
- Book your place early because there are only limited plants available.
If you need help identifying gazanias or fountain grass, visit the PIRSA website for more information.
