Coral Reid "On That Day" EP launch mini gig and session

Come along for the Melbourne launch of Coral's EP!

"There’s this funny thing in the folk/traditional music world, where some recordings or transcriptions come to be regarded as defining versions. Tunes, of course, evolve as they are passed from place to place, between musicians, and the same musician is unlikely to play it the same way twice. These tunes are simply how I played them one autumn Friday in Melbourne, Australia."

On That Day is an 8 track EP of English tunes on solo fiddle, with melodies spanning from the 1600's to contemporary compositions. Recorded on a single day last Autumn, it is a snapshot of Coral's playing and her favourite tunes, as it was on that day.

The event comprises of a 50 minute concert set, followed by an informal session. Musicians, bring your instruments, and your favourite English, or simply unusual tunes. Anything is welcome!

We'll be upstairs at The Last Jar, Elizabeth Street, VIC 3000. Doors 4:30pm, performance starts at 5pm.

The performance will be acoustic and is suitable for all ages.
