SAH2H along with ATCO Australia and Ricardo PLC will be discussing Hydrogen energy and the opportunity for South Australia as a state and the opportunities for businesses wanting to leverage this emerging sector. 

Meet the speakers


Russell James
General Manager Hydrogen & Future Fuels, ATCO

Russell James first joined ATCO in 2002, and has held various roles including General Manager Construction, and General Manager Business Development and Customer Experience. With 20 years’ experience in energy, Russell is experienced in the delivery of small to large scale energy and utility infrastructure projects. He has extensive knowledge of gas and energy markets, pricing, and regulations. Over the last four years he has led or played a key role in all ATCO's hydrogen related activities, including development of the Clean Energy Innovation Hub, conceptualising and sourcing funding from the WA Government Renewable Hydrogen Fund for the Hydrogen Vehicle Refuelling station, and securing $28.7m from ARENA to develop the Clean Energy Innovation Park - a commercial scale renewable hydrogen production project.


Jorge Martin Gistau
Manager Sustainable Transport ANZ, Ricardo

Jorge leads Ricardo plc‘s Sustainable Transport initiatives across Australia and New Zealand. Ricardo plc is a global strategic, environmental and engineering consultancy at the intersection of transport, energy and global climate agendas. Jorge is passionate about net zero emission technologies that will enable a more sustainable future. With special interest in sustainable transport, Jorge has worked on bi-mode rail projects like the NSW Regional Rail Project that is delivering Australian-first bi-mode trains ($2.8 billion TfNSW project). Most recently, he has led the net zero emissions feasibility and technology study for the Government of South Australia’s Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) which determined the most appropriate traction power technologies for routes on the Adelaide Metro rail network. Subsequent to this, Jorge is also leading the net zero emissions Strategic Business Case for the same project. As a SA-H2H™ member, Ricardo plc is leading the pre-feasibility study for the hydrogen retrofit project. Jorge’s knowledge from above projects will be fundamental to identify and articulate feasible solutions for a future hydrogen pilot project in South Australia.
