Core Funding for Stronger Communities Pledge Launch
Description
LCSA’s Core Funding for Stronger Communities campaign is gaining momentum, and now we need MPs on board.
On Thursday 19 November, we’re hosting a Parliamentary Friends event at NSW Parliament House. Both houses are sitting that day, so your local MP may already be in the building.
This is a drop-in session. There’ll be a short presentation, then MPs can:
sign the campaign pledge to show their support for neighbourhood and community centres
meet representatives from centres across NSW
join photo and media opportunities
Invite your MP
MPs listen to local voices. Inviting yours is a chance to strengthen that relationship, show what your centre does and build support for sustainable core funding.
We’re especially keen to reach sitting MPs and candidates in marginal seats. Ask us if your centre is in one. With few seats expected to be safe at this election, we encourage every member to invite their MP.
What you need
Template invitation letter: fill in the sections highlighted in blue, tailor it to your centre and send it to your MP.
Policy Platform: an overview of our core funding and community centre asks.
LCSA Member Census Report: the evidence for sustainable core funding.
Shared Commitment to Collaboration: the NSW Government’s commitment to working with our sector.
You’re welcome to come too
Please register so we can plan the event. If you’re bringing your MP, or they’ve said they’ll attend, let us know when you register.
