Claudio Monteverdi's amazing last opera, L'incoronazione di Poppea (Venice, 1643), explores themes of ambition, betrayal, and the moral ambiguity of power. Poppea, driven by her desire to become empress, manipulates Emperor Nero to achieve her goals, leading to a web of deception and the downfall of other characters.

This performance will run for approximately 2 hours and 20 mins including an interval. Any latecomers will be admitted at the discretion of Front of House.

This performance takes place in Grant Street Theatre which is accessible via Lionel's Lounge. Please enter Lionel's Lounge via Grant Street, Southbank, to be admitted to the performance space by Front of House staff.
