CoS EMCR Research Leadership Series: 'In conversation' - Session 3
Event description
Dear Colleagues
The College of Science is pleased to offer a series of new Research Leadership Training.
These sessions will offer a valuable opportunity for early and mid-career academics who are leading their own research groups to gain insights into the strategies used by some of the College’s successful research leaders. The session will take the form of an open conversation with the Dean, Kiaran Kirk, about the approaches that the various interviewees take to leading their own research groups. In this third and final session, Kiaran will be in conversation with Professor Naomi McClure-Griffiths (Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics) and Professor Andy Hogg (Research School of Earth Sciences).
Topics to be covered during these sessions will include such things as recruitment of group members, managing finances, career development, professional practice, managing external relationships, and work-life balance.
The sessions will be held at lunch time (please bring your own lunch), with time set aside for participants to socialise/network. This will provide an opportunity for you to get to know other researchers from across the College who are at a similar career stage.
Please see sessions below:
- Session 1: Wednesday, 14 August, 12.00 – 1.30pm (Physics Conference Room)
- Session 2: Tuesday, 8 October; 12.00-1.30pm (Frank Fenner Seminar Room)
- Session 3: Wednesday, 13 November; 12.00pm – 1.30pm (Slatyer Seminar Room)
Participants are welcome to attend all three (3) sessions but this is not a requirement.
