This event has passed Get tickets

    Event description

Explore the wonders of space on an interactive cosmic canvas. Select from cards representing things you'll find in outer space and watch as the table brings them to life with animations and cool facts. Experiment by placing two cards next to each other to create new and sometimes catastrophic effects - what if you combine a star with a black hole? Bring your Whānau along and get curious about science and astronomy. There will also be some astrophotography on display and kid-friendly introductions to astronomy by a local astronomer.

Supported and funded by the Albert Eden Local Board.

    Where:

Epsom Library, 195 Manukau Road, Epsom, Auckland 1023

    Dates:

    On display between 15th April - 14th May 2024

    Talks:

    Saturday 27th April 2024, 2-3pm

    Saturday 4th May 2024, 2-3pm

During the talks, get introduced to Astronomy with Chris and Melody, along with an introduction to the AR technology used to make the table interactive. Play around with the astronomy table on display, while Chris answers all of your crazy questions.

Chris is a keen astronomer with years of experience in showing people the sky above them with just your naked eyes and through a telescope. He has worked at Stardome for many years.

Melody is Blob Collective's co-founder, a studio merging art and technology to engage audiences in innovative ways.
