Cotton Tea Towel Weaving Workshop.

Price $140 AUD Get Tickets

Event description

Intermediate Weaving workshop with all materials and supplies included, to make your own soft cotton cloth that you can take home with you. It is recommended that you are already somewhat comfortable with warping a loom. However, if you are an adventurous beginner you are welcome to join us, just be aware that you may not weave as fast and might end up with a shorter tea-towel.

For those who want to try something a little more challenging than wool and plainweave –
create a cotton tea-towel in English Plainweave structure. This workshop includes warping your own loom using doubled threads.
Depending on your preferences and finished length your weaving could be used for a hand-towel, tea-towel, bread cloth or sewn into a bag, cushion, purse and so on. Select your feature colour when booking from the range of Ashford Caterpillar cotton, and we will have co- ordinating colours of plain cotton to go with it.

Skills covered will include:

Warping doubled ends on a rigid heddle loom
English Plainweave
Weaving with cotton and tips for dealing with non-elastic yarns
Posture & tips for avoiding strain
Warp-dominant weaving

We will be using 100% cotton yarns, if you are unable to use cotton please contact us to discuss alternative options.
