Event description

Count Us In – Diversity is Strong and Invincible

Community invitation

SSI invites you to Count Us In – Diversity is Strong and Invincible, an International Women’s Day event supported by Women New South Wales. This event commemorates the United Nations International Women’s Day (IWD) held annually on 8th March, aligning with the 2024 theme Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.

The Count Us In – Diversity is Strong and Invincible event will bring together women from diverse backgrounds to celebrate all the different ways that women demonstrate leadership within their families, communities and workplaces. Too often, women from diverse backgrounds are excluded or overlooked from leadership opportunities.

As champions of women from CALD backgrounds, SSI is thrilled to host this event to celebrate the women that lead our communities and who have been role models for resilience and determination. This event will provide an opportunity for women from all stages and walks of life to connect and share their experiences.

We are excited to partner with Vu Consulting at this event and support the launch of their More Voices, More Representation campaign designed to  “champion underrepresented, underserved, minoritised and racialised women and non-binary voices across the various events, panels, and media coverage surrounding IWD.”  Vu Consulting will launch the report of their findings for 2024 at this event, and this report will illuminate how women and non-binary people from diverse and intersecting backgrounds feel about representation in IWD and beyond. We encourage you to complete their survey on IWD in preparation to contribute to their 2024 report.

Count Us In – Diversity is Strong and Invincible will feature a diverse panel of female leaders, key speakers , entertainment, interactive activities, and an opportunity to network and interact with other community members. Join us as we celebrate the diversity of the amazing women in our communities.

Key speakers include
Jodie Harrison - New South Wales Minister for Women

Juliana Nkrumah - 2023 recipient of the Australian Human Rights Medal
