Join us for an inspiring and empowering evening where we tackle Islamophobia and equip ourselves with the tools to create meaningful change.
Guest Speakers:
Dr. Yassir MorsiΒ - A muslim academic specializing in race, identity, and Islamophobia. His work sheds light on the experiences of Muslims in todayβs world, particularly in the West. Dr. Morsiβs dedication to justice and his efforts to challenge stereotypes make him a respected voice in addressing social issues and promoting understanding.Lawyer Jazeer Nijamudeen -Β leads the Countering Islamophobia Project for the Board of Imams Victoria and works closely with Action Against Islamophobia which supports and advocates for victims of Islamophobia at a national level. Jazeer is also a senior lawyer and a co-founder of the Muslim Legal Network. Jazeer has received the Meritorious Service Award for Excellence in Multicultural Affairs from the Victorian Government and actively engages with peak bodies and community leaders across Australia.Β
Dr. Lucy VerweyΒ - A Muslim psychologist focusing on mental health, she supports individuals through challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief with a mindfulness-based approach.Β
This workshop will empower you to:
- Take action as a victim or witness of Islamophobia.
- Learn how to collect evidence effectively to achieve outcomes.
- Avoid thinking traps and hold racists accountable with actionable strategies.
