Courage and Codes: Father and Son Workshop
Description
As part of 16 Days of Activism, Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre is hosting Courage and Codes, a free workshop for father/father figure and sons aged 10-15 years old.
During this workshop, we will explore ways of helping your son to respect himself, choose healthy mates, value women and community, recognise and manage his emotions. Facilitated by Matt Lees-Nunan, a passionate counsellor, teaching young men how to build self-worth and emotional awareness.
About the program: The Courage & Codes program introduces young men to 13 powerful, values-based codes – each one a guiding principle for how to show up in the world. These codes offer a clear and meaningful pathway for boys to follow as they grow into great men – men who understand their emotions, treat others with respect, and take pride in living with purpose and heart.
Empowering young men to honour their feelings, develop self-awareness, and navigate emotions in a healthy way-leading to safer communities, stronger friendships, and better relationships.
Our Boys Program focuses on young men learning new codes (values) to help steer them through teenage years and into adulthood. Courage & Codes is here to reshape outdated Aussie norms-moving beyond the old ideals of toughness, drinking, and tearing mates down.
Creating a shift in Australian culture for young men-where banter and put-downs once defined humor, we’re moving toward a future where they learn to honor themselves and their bodies. A culture where camaraderie shines brighter than competition, and where young women are understood and respected.
