Crafting Impactful Stories for the Stage (and Beyond)
Event description
When we learn to tell better stories about ourselves and our lives, it impacts not just how we see ourselves, but how the world sees us. A strong, authentic narrative boosts confidence, fuels creative risks, enhances your personal brand, and opens doors to new opportunities.
In this masterclass, you’ll discover how to transform your lived experiences into compelling, aligned stories that embrace your whole self—imperfections and all. Through practical tools, frameworks, and key mindset shifts, you’ll gain the skills to craft narratives that leave lasting impressions, whether on stage, in the boardroom, or in building your brand.
This masterclass will cover:
- Extracting meaningful stories from your life to create impactful narratives for speaking, leadership, or branding.
- Weaving the imperfect parts of your journey into authentic, memorable stories that inspire and connect.
- Showing up relaxed, confident, and in your power in networking spaces—even if networking isn’t quite your thing.
- Creating a story that aligns so deeply with who you are, it transforms how you carry yourself—in your gut, in your strut, and in your belief about what’s possible. This energy washes over everything you do, especially in the context of business, the calibre of the work you do and opening new doors.
About Som
Som Puri is a copywriter, keynote speaker and closetted comic living in Melbourne, Australia.
She is a 2024 Tedx speaker, past-life TV host and a copywriter with nearly 15 years of experience – so in most parts of her work life and personal one too – she’s always writing in some form or the other.
For a long time, she was violently embarrassed about being socially awkward, which in turn made her MORE socially awkward, which made her hide herself and feel bitter and unseen.
These days, it's a very important part of her life – she’s a sometimes-socially-awkward person who speaks to rooms full of people. She speaks about the power of creating a powerful personal narrative that feels aligned to who you really are, and this includes the non-linear and messy parts of your story that might feel uncomfortable to show at first, but if you lean in can be the very things that make you both memorable and inherently confident simultaneously.
She delivers keynotes and runs workshops about the agency we ALL have in creating a personal narrative that feels powerful (and opens doors we can confidently walk through) and how we can start with what we already have.
In the copywriting part of her world, she works with brands mainly in the retail space, creating suites of copy all feeding into their business goals and areas of thriving and interest, but her real superpower is tapping into story and tone of voice. And this is where her speaking world and her writing world intersect. She believes that a great, well-defined story is the main thing that can make you stand out in a cluttered space.
It isn't that different from standing out at a party too. She just wishes her 17 year-old self knew that when she straightened her vigorously curly hair to look like everyone else
